Sidney Lumet
Fresh off critical raves for "Before the Devil Knows You're Dead," director Sidney Lumet has secured financing for his next two films.According to Variety, the Funky Buddha Group will finance Lumet's next two movies, with an option for a third. The company previously financed "Before the Devil Knows You're Dead," which has made an estimated $2.3 million in its limited release.Up first is "Getting Out," from Lumet's original script. The trade paper says that the movie focuses on an imprisoned man trying to gain his freedom by any means necessary. No casting has been done on the project. It hadn't been so easy for Lumet to attract financing or distribution for "Before the Devil Knows You're Dead," one of the year's best reviewed films, or 2006's mob dramedy "Find Me Guilty." Those two films followed nearly two decades of middling box office for films including "Gloria," "Critical Care," "Guilty as Sin" and "Family Business,"Before that cold streak, Lumet was one of the industry's most respected directors. He earned Oscar nominations for directing "12 Angry Men," "Dog Day Afternoon," "Network" and "The Verdict," while also helming films including "Serpico" and "Running on Empty."Lumet received an honorary Oscar in 2005
