Ripped from the Movies.. Thrown into the headlines

Missing Buffalo Grove Teen May Have Been Influenced by Book

(Chicago, IL) Investigators are considering the possibility that a Stevenson High School student who disappeared in October, may have been influenced by the book "Into the Wild."  A copy of the book was found in Lee Cutler's abandoned car near Baraboo, Wisconsin.  The book chronicles the story of 24-year-old Christopher McCandless who got rid of most of his personal belongings and cut off ties with his family and tried to survive on his own in the wilderness in the early 1990s.  Police say the book, which has now been made into a movie, was the reason they checked the Baraboo River and surrounding area, recovering The Buffalo Grove teen's pants, wallet, car keys and other personal items last fall.  Cutler's family is still hoping he'll be found alive.
